Francestown, New Hampshire is a rural New England village located in the Monadnock Region, in Hillsborough County. It is situated on the second New Hampshire Turnpike, 22 miles from Manchester, and 69 miles from Boston. The town is named after Frances Deering Wentworth, colonial Governor John Wentworth’s wife. Francestown’s Old Meeting House was built in 1801. It has been renovated and expanded many times since then. The title was transferred to the Old Meeting House of Francestown, Inc. in 1987. This non-profit corporation is responsible for preserving, restoring, and managing the building while maintaining it's historical and architectural character. Francestown was home to Dean Koontz, a well-known author. It was also home to a high-quality soapstone quarry unit the 1890’s.
